Lindsay Larsen

OWNER / LEAD STYLIST

Education is continuous within our career; I have trained at Vidal Sassoon, and annually attend various courses at Bumble and Bumble University in New York City. I am trained as a Network Educator, allowing me to share my knowledge to other aspiring artists.

I specialize in colouring blondes, but also love design. I’m inspired by nature and the intricacy of beauty. Nature allows me to translate colour, texture, and shape into daily inspiration. Whether you are looking for beautiful subtlety or a dramatic change, we can work together to find your ideal result. With a primary focus on the highest quality product, and consistent education, everything created is done with the goal of achieving the highest possible standard.

  • I discovered my passion for hair styling during my high school years, where I focused on Cosmetology. Following graduation, I embarked on two exhilarating journeys across Europe, as well as extensive travels throughout North and Central America.

Ten years ago, I began my apprenticeship, fully immersing myself in my career. My true artistic expression shines through when I have the opportunity to colour hair, whether it's creating bright blondes, natural balayage, or adding a playful pop of pink. The world of hair is constantly evolving, and I am committed to staying at the forefront by continually seeking new and exciting learning opportunities. Through ongoing education, I stay inspired and ensure that my skills remain current. When I'm not in the salon, you can find me indulging in my love for photography in the great outdoors of Calgary. Additionally, I am a proud and dedicated dog mom, cherishing every moment spent with my furry companion.

  • My passion lies in creating vibrant blondes and pairing them with the perfect cut. Over the past decade, I have had the honour of training at some of the best hairdressing academies in North America. I've enrolled at Vidal Sassoon, with training in both Santa Monica and New York. Being an artist, I draw constant inspiration from my talented colleagues. It was crucial for me to find a salon that fosters learning, growth, and ongoing inspiration, which has ultimately led me to where I am today. What truly excites me is the chance to help individuals discover hidden beauty within themselves. Hair is a remarkable canvas, and together, we can create something truly extraordinary.

  • I started my career at The Aveda Institute in 2013. During my time at school, I had started my apprenticeship at Hedkandi Salon here in Calgary. I was able to learn and fall in love with our industry. I knew I was passionate about hairdressing because it was so fulfilling to perfect my skill daily and start to grow my clientele. Moving forward, I starting sourcing a smaller, more independent salon. This was great motivation for learning how to become my own boss and focus on what I love. I like to work in an smaller, more personable environment where I can give my clients the attention they deserve. I did however miss working alongside other artists, which lead me to find an ideal salon to work for. I'm excited to share my skill and help other aspiring hair dressers evolve, while continuing to grow myself.

When i'm not hands deep in balayage and intricate highlights, you'll find me and my partner riding our bikes to the nearest river, or hanging with our favourite pups!

  • I began my journey in the hair industry 9+ year ago. I was born in Vancouver and raised in Calgary. My true love for the ocean and beach translates into the hair I do- lived in yet fresh and glowing. Whether you’re a blonde, brunette or red head, I love it all! Everything inspires me on a daily basis - art, landscapes or nature- and translates into what I can create for my clients. Proper hair health and education is very important to me. In my years in the industry I have attended 12+ Master Classes, out of Calgary as well as London. My love for education is something I thrive on, but most of all, it is imperative to our industry.

My favourite service to perform would have to be balayage and beach waves. I’ve really always loved this look because it’s reveals a person’s natural beauty- love yourself!

Balayage is very specific to each client, which means you get to ignite those creative juices and really visualize what you want the hair to look like. Contrast, shadows, light versus dark etc... which in turn makes a super satisfying result when all is said and done. At the end of the day it’s about you leaving my chair with a feeling of happiness as well as a healthy image of self confidence. I promise I will provide that to the best of my ability.

  • If I had to describe myself with one word it would be creative.

I studied photography immediately after high school. After years of working in restaurants/bars trying to make enough money to support my art, I took a leap and enrolled in hair school at Aveda Institute January 2019.

As soon as I started doing hair it felt everything clicked. I always loved being able to capture beauty in a photograph, with hair I have an opportunity to enhance my clients beauty and make them feel like their absolute best selves. Seeing the smile on someone’s face when they love their hair is the best feeling.

I love cutting blunt lines and strong angles. My attention to detail and love of puzzles I think is what caused me to gravitate towards cutting at first. The more I learn, practice and play around with colour the harder I fall for it. I couldn’t tell you what I like doing the most at this point.

I am looking forward to learning as much as I possibly can and growing in this craft. I am so happy to have the opportunity to start my career at Salon Bowie alongside an incredible, inspiring group of women.

When I’m not doing hair you can find me enjoying some time outdoors running/biking/hiking. Indoors I can be found knitting or crocheting pretty much anywhere and everywhere.

  • I have been part of the hair industry for 8 years now, starting my journey at Delmar College of Hair and Aesthetics.

Through hairstyling I have achieved a passion for creativity that I always desired in a career, and along the way I have discovered just how fulfilling building relationships with people is and how I can help them find a way to express and feel beautiful about themselves, which has been immensely rewarding. With this ever-changing industry education in both techniques and hair care have been an on going mission.

I specialize particularly in blondes and balayage techniques, however I have an extensive knowledge that encompasses everything hair. With this I strive to achieve the most desired looks for each individual in my chair, making sure they are feeling their best.

  • My passion for hair originated from my love for human kind. Since I was young, I always wanted to have a job where I could help others feel better about themselves. Doing hair has allowed me to build new relationships, encourage self love and true confidence.

While i’m not at the salon, you can find me spending time with my loved ones, hiking in the mountains, or attending concerts! As i’m very outgoing, I also love to stay in and recreate acoustic covers of my favourite songs on my guitar.

I’m looking forward to seeing you in my chair, and starting a new journey together.

  • Hi, there! I’m Emily! I’m a senior stylist and educator.

I’ve been a hairstylist for 16 years and been blessed to be educated by some of the best in the industry. Education is everything to me; I’m always learning, growing and evolving as an artist as well as sharing my knowledge with clients and other stylists.

I started off my career being mentored by a platform artist at hedkandi salon (where I thrived for 14 years) I went on to train at Vidal Sassoon Academy in Santa Monica, I took several courses at Bumble & Bumble University in NYC for design and curly hair, as well as pop up courses in LA and Seattle for editorial styling and color. I’ve done countless classes in Calgary with Oribe, Redken, Bumble and more; learning all areas of the industry from colouring, cutting, styling, barbering, business, creative shoots, educator training, personal life skills… and I still can’t get enough!

I love to do it it all; but I’m probably best known for my design work.

  • Hi I’m Holly!

Growing up I’ve always kind of been the “hair friend” out of my friends so eventually deciding to take the leap and pursue hair easily became the best decision I could’ve made.

With a lifelong love for hair, I’ve chosen the path to pursue a career in the hair industry. My specialty lies in crafting breathtaking and vibrant hair colours, spanning from gorgeous blondes to captivating lived-in reds. • Marda Loop Location

I have been in the hair industry since 2016, but I think it all started at my kindergarten graduation when hairdresser was my answer to what I wanted to be when I grow up!

I love coming to work everyday and creating a unique client experience, tailored to their individual needs. Connecting and building relationships with people is what keeps me inspired and fulfilled.

I feel most creative when I’m doing any highlighting or balayage services, to me it feels like an art project. My goal is always for clients to leave feeling like the best version of themselves and loving their hair!
